Polymerupdate Team : When did you start your company ?
Dr. Parmar : My company, Polyblend Colour Concentrate started operations in 1991 in a unit of 430 sq feet manufacturing masterbatches . In the first year itself, we achieved a sales target of Rs. 1.5 Crores and mainly supplied masterbatches to multilayer film producers.

Polymerupdate Team : How did you expand thereon ?
Dr. Parmar :   In 1992, we developed an in house twin screw co-rotating extrusion machine for manufacturing of Plastics Masterbatches to meet increased demand of the product. We purchased another unit in 1992 and were operating out of an area of 1,200 sq.feet. Towards the end of 1996, we established production facilities in Daman. We were the first to introduce fibre effect masterbatches in 1997 and were having a monopoly on the product for more than two years. Being a specialized effect masterbatch, it was having very good demand and was used particularly by moulded chair manufacturers. In 2003-04, we further acquired advanced compounding machines which were fully automatic.

Polymerupdate Team : What is the speciality of your products ?
Dr. Parmar : We are into the manufacture of specialized masterbatches which are used in the engineering and automobile industries amongst other industries. We also produce polyacetal masterbatches as well as anti-rodent, anti microbial odourless masterbatches.

Polymerupdate Team : What are the applications for your products ?
Dr. Parmar : Our products find a wide range of applications including blown film extrusion, blow moulding, biaxially oriented films, lamination, pipes & profile extrusion and fibre spinning.

Polymerupdate Team : How big is the masterbatch market in India ?
Dr. Parmar : The total market of the masterbatch in India is nearly 30,000 tons  and two-thirds of the market comprises of black and white masterbatches mainly for carrier bags and consumer goods.

Polymerupdate Team : How much emphasis do you lay on quality control ?
Dr. Parmar : We lay a strong emphasis on quality control for our products. We have a qualified and dedicated quality control team functioning in house. We have a laboratory fibre testing machine for testing the quality of masterbatches. Quality is never compromised as far as the product is concerned in our units.

Polymerupdate Team : What are the raw materials used for the manufacture of masterbatches ?
Dr. Parmar : We specialize in the use of Nylon. Apart from Nylon, we use LDPE, PP, PS, Polycarbonate and PET.
