Polymerupdate Team : When did Techno Tarp & Polymers Pvt Ltd commence operations?
Hemant Phatak : The company commenced production in July 2007. We are into manufacture of tarpaulin.  Techno Tarp & Polymers Pvt Ltd which is a 100 percent Export Oriented Unit is a subsidiary of Techno Relief which is a global supplier for emergency relief & rehabilitation.

Polymerupdate Team : What are the applications for your products?
Hemant Phatak : Production of tarpaulin takes place with HDPE as the primary material and is additionally laminated with LDPE. It therefore finds its applications in areas of; shelter against elements of nature, in roof covers, temporary shelter, ground sheet, tents, covers for camping, covers for object like trucks, pools, machinery, wood piles, lumber, fodder, boats and warehouse etc.

Polymerupdate Team : What are the various sizes of tarpaulins manufactured in your unit?
Hemant Phatak : Tarpaulins manufactured at our unit are as follows : tarpaulin from 65-300 gsm; tarpaulin in various sizes like 4m X 5m, 4m X 6m and 4M X 60 M ; tarpaulin manufactured in an assortment of colours e.g silver white, blue, green, white, yellow; tarpaulins with or without eyelets as well as multi colour bands; from a mesh of 6 X 6 upto a mesh of 14 X 16; tarpaulins manufactured by adhering to specifications as required by various Non Governmental Organizations.

Polymerupdate Team : Tell us something about the machinery used at your unit?
Hemant Phatak : Our machinery set up is based on the latest contemporary technology. This comprises of Static mixer and melt pump for uniform mixing and dispersion results, Inverter based winders for defect free winding and super heated oven which gives highest strength to the yarn. The 6 shuttle looms at our unit have the capacity to manufacture heavy duty fabric possessing a maximum width of 2.7 metres. These looms are capable of making pin-hole free fabric for better protective properties. We also have a one of a kind laminator which can laminate in tandem fashion up to 10 microns on either side. Our laminator works with an accuracy of maximum variation of 2 percent in film thickness. We have a continuous three header sealing machine with a unique hot air device for firm and strong sealing. Our factory also includes an automatic cutting machine which cuts the tarpaulin at a desired length and ensures zero defects in dimensions. Both tape line and laminator extruders are fitted with four feeder mixing and dosing equipment which are specially designed for blending tarpaulin ingredients and are micro process controlled. This gives uniform and accurate mixing for better quality.

Polymerupdate Team : What is the product capacity of your unit?
Hemant Phatak : At present, capacity of plant is pegged at 3000 mt/year. We are presently working at 50 percent capacity but hope to achieve a capacity run of 100 percent by the end of this quarter.

Polymerupdate Team : What is the export market for your products?
Hemant Phatak : Our chief export market for our products is in the Gulf, Africa and South East Asia . We are also planning to establish a foothold in the American and European markets.

Polymerupdate Team : What is the turnover of your group?
Hemant Phatak : The turnover of parent company techno Relief has been USD 30 million. We expect the turnover of Techno Tarp to reach USD 6 million once the company achieves 100 percent production levels.

Polymerupdate Team : How do you protect yourself against price fluctuations?
Hemant Phatak : 75 percent of our cost of sale is for raw materials. We intend to protect ourselves by using more imported material. For dollar inflow we will be doing hedging of funds by way of which we intend to protect our profit margins against price fluctuations.

Polymerupdate Team : What are the measures being undertaken by you to adhere to quality standards?
Hemant Phatak : We manufacture quality products as per international standards. We are going to shortly apply for ISO certification.
