Polymerupdate Team: When did your concern “House of Amin” commence operations?
Shoaib Amin : Basically House of Amin is the group name. The actual name of the company is M/s. Shoaib Amin which is basically a House of Amin Group Company. Our recorded history goes back to 1921 when our forefathers established a company by the name of O.H. Mohammad & Company in 1921 in Kutyana in the Kathiawar Peninsula of undivided India. Until 1971, we had concerns ranging from textiles to cable manufacturing with offices in London, Osaka, Karachi and Colombo with head office in Dhaka then West Pakistan. After the independence of West Pakistan (Now Bangladesh), my father Mr. Amin Ibrahim Dhedhi started his concern in Present Pakistan by the name of Orient PVC compound and a trading conern by the name of Amin Agencies. Between the years 1996-98, two more concerns were added in the group by the name of M/s. Shoaib Amin and M/s. SaSa & SaSa and a group identity was formed by the name of "House of Amin". Now under these two concerns, M/s. Shoaib Amin represents Oman PP and M/s. SaSa & SaSa represents "Petronas MITCO Labuan Company" and "Polymerupdate.com"

Polymerupdate Team : What are the various products in which you deal?
Shoaib Amin : We deal chiefly in polymers. Now we have ventured into LPG, solvents and commodities like coal, metals and polymer and petrochemical information services.

Polymerupdate Team : What is the volume of trade handled by you in terms of quantity?
Shoaib Amin: We are roughly handling 40k tons of Polymers and another 40K tons of other products. Apart from this we have on our panel some of the leading Petrochemical firms buying monthly Pakistani market information. 

Polymerupdate Team : What is your geographic area of operations?
Shoaib Amin : At present, we are operating only in Pakistan.

Polymerupdate Team : What are your future expansion plans?
Shoaib Amin : We plan to extend our operations to countries in the region like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, India and UAE.

Polymerupdate Team : How do you envisage the polymer market in Pakistan in the current scenario and in future ?
Shoaib Amin : We foresee great potential in Pakistan. The growth rate of the market at the moment is around 7 percent. However, with expansions planned and in process by most convertors this market may see a quantum jump in volumes. There has been another shift in our market and that is a paradigm shift from a trading market to a consumer oriented market, which is very encouraging.

Polymerupdate Team : Any word of advice which you would like to give to budding entrepreneurs in this region?
Shoaib Amin : Honesty and hard work pays off. It may take a little longer but it certainly pays off. Also you must firmly believe in destiny. Nobody can take your destiny away from you. You must be honest with your buyer, your principal and above all to your self. Be good to others as goodliness is Godliness!
