Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal - Executive Director, Mayur Group is a second generation entrepreneur who is at the helm of affairs of the Mayur group. The Polymerupdate team caught up with him in an interview wherein he discussed about the entrepreneurial qualities of Mr Shyam Tibrewal his father and a respected name in the plastics industry, how the Mayur group started and their future plans.

Polymerupdate : Your father Mr. Shyam Tibrewal is a respected name in the plastics industry. Tell us something about the early days when he started the group?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : The Mayur Group was started by my father in 1975. Till 1985 our group was involved in the manufacturing and trading of dyes and chemicals. In this period, we dealt successfully with reputed names in the textile industry such as Reliance, Calico, Ambika, Arvind, Birla, Tata and the Sodhan group. We played a vital role in developing colours for polyester.

 

Polymerupdate : How did your group plan diversifications in 1985 ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : In 1985 we felt that the field of dyes and chemicals was not environmentally friendly and needed a lot of environmental changes. With this aim in mind, we diversified into plastics extrusion. Over a period of time we have developed into a multi faceted organization with 3 manufacturing companies under the group umbrella and a separate trading division formed to cater to the different needs of its customers.

 

Polymerupdate : What are the different products manufactured by your group ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : We manufacture PP/HDPE Woven fabrics, sacks, jumbo bags, FIBC, tarpaulin and LD/LLD/HMHD/PP Liner bags.

 

Polymerupdate : What is raw material consumption in your companies ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : We started our plastics extrusion unit in 1985 with a consumption of 45 metric tonnes per month. Our consumption reached 500 metric tonnes per month in 2000. In 2007, we had a raw material consumption of 25,000 metric tonnes per year for in house Mayur wovens production and our group raw material consumption is 60,000 metric tonnes per annum of  PP, HDPE, HM, LLDPE, LDPE and Masterbatch. We expect our group consumption to cross the capacity of 1 lakh metric tonnes per annum in 2010.

 

Polymerupdate : What is your export volume and which countries do you export to ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : We are exporting 80 percent of our production and we export to countries like USA, Canada, Europe and the Asia Pacific countries.

 

Polymerupdate : How do you protect yourselves against price fluctuations in the market ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : We always maintain enough inventory of material to protect ourselves against price fluctuations in the market. We also have a long term contract on market prices with our customers. Any ups and downs in price are well accepted by the buyers.

 

Polymerupdate : What are the associations with which Mr Shyam Tibrewal has been involved ?

Mr. Siddharth Tibrewal : He has been the immediate past President of PLASTINDIA FOUNDATION which is the apex body of all Indian Plastic Associations. He has also served as the President of the GUJARAT STATE PLASTIC MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION (GSPMA) and executive committee member of PLEXCOUNCIL, Mumbai. He has also been the governing council member of Central Institute of  Plastic Engineers (CIPET) and Indian Centre for Plastics (ICPE).
