Increase witnessed in import of ABS to China - Mar 7, 2011 [06:05]
An industry source based in China informed a polymerupdate team member that as compared to January 2010, the country imported more quantity of ABS in January 2011.
The source said, “as per data released by Chinese Customs, the country imported 171,317 mt of ABS in January 2011. However this quantity is lesser as compared to the import figures pegged for December 2010."
The source added, "Taiwan was the largest exporter of ABS, in January 2011, to China at 85,185 mt. South Korea was the second largest exporter of the material at 57,173 mt followed by Japan at 8,564 mt.”
South Korean source comments on ABS plant of Cheil Industries - Mar 8, 2011 [04:35]
A South Korean source informed a polymerupdate team member that Cheil Industries, South Korea is running an ABS plant at full rates.
The source said, "since mid last month, the plant is running at full rates. The plant is planned to be taken offstream from mid March 2011. The shutdown will remain in force for around one month.”
The source added, "located in Yeosu, South Korea the plant has an operational capacity of 80,000 mt/year."
Taiwanese source comments on ABS plant of Taita Chemicals - Mar 2, 2011 [06:25]
A Taiwanese industry source informed a polymerupdate team member on the current rates at an ABS plant operated by Taita Chemicals, Taiwan.
The source said, "at present, the plant is running at full rates. The last maintenance turnaround at the plant had been undertaken in end October 2010. The plant remained under a shutdown for around three weeks. "
The source added, " the plant has a production capacity of 80,000 mt/year and is located at Kaohsiung, Taiwan."
