ACN prices march higher in Asia - Mar 18th, 2011 [10:25]
Prices of acrylonitrile (ACN) firmed this week in Asia. Price gains were triggered by the sustained tightness in regional availability on the one hand while on the other uncertainties surrounding the current operational status of Japanese ACN producers post last Friday's earthquake, kept the pricing undertone bullish.
CFR Far East Asia prices of ACN were assessed up at the USD 2700/mt levels while CFR South Asia prices were assessed up at the USD 2750/mt levels. Offers were higher.
In China, local petrochemical major Sinopec is reported to have hiked its ex tank prices of ACN by Yuan 100/mt. The revised rates were up at the Yuan 21,000/mt mark.
Supporting the steep climb in prices of ACN were gains in feedstock propylene with rates up at the USD 1550/mt FOB Korea levels on Thursday.
