DOP prices decline this week in Asia - Mar 11th, 2011 [10:45]
Despite strength in upstream 2EH, prices of DOP in Asia this week were seen slipping. Prices fell as demand for spot cargoes turned further sluggish. Supporting the price slip was a drop in PA feedstock rates.
CFR China prices of DOP were assessed down at the USD 1820/mt levels. Sellers polled confirmed that even after the price reduction, buying failed to show signs of lifting. CFR South East Asia prices of DOP were assessed down at the USD 1830/mt levels.
A DOP trader a polymerupdate team member spoke with said, “ seeing the sluggish buying mood in Asia, we were expecting a sharper fall in spot DOP rates. Producers of DOP when contacted however have defended their decision to limit the price fall by citing high upstream 2EH costs.”
