LL
6101 XR is a medium flow LLDPE grade, which offers excellent stiffness, heat
distortion resistance and good environmental stress crack resistance.
It is typically used in applications such as large housewares, bottle caps,
containers, door mats, dustbins and lids. The excellent toughness and ESCR
make it an excellent blend partner for HDPE, where it can enhance the ESCR
of items like buckets and lids.
The superior properties of LL 6101 XR make it an ideal grade to substitute
lower melt index, low density resins and still achieve a significant
improvement in properties such as ESCR, gloss and stiffness. Another
outstanding feature is that articles molded from LL 6101 XR exhibit very low
warpage.
The intrinsically high stiffness of LL 6101 XR offers the advantage of
material savings by downgauging wall thickness whilst retaining top load
strength. The grade is also available in powder form (LL 6101 RQ) which is
used in compounding applications. |
LL 6101 XR can readily be processed on
commercially available injection moulding machines. The optimum conditions
depend on many parameters e.g. application, mould design, etc. but as a
guideline the normal processing temperature should lie in the range of
170-190 °C.
The grade shows an improved cycle time: the higher crystallization point
of linear LDPE and its greater intrinsic stiffness versus LDPE allow mold
ejection at higher temperatures.
The LL6101 RQ powder version can be conveyed and fed through systems
designed to handle pelletized grades. However some minor modification may
be necessary.
Both resins are stabilized for protection against oxidation and yellowing
during processing under normal injection molding conditions.
