LOTEK

LOTEK 8020 (Ethylene Acrylic Acid Sodium IONOMER)

Key features

Recommended processing conditions and resin handling

IOTEK 8020 is a sodium ionomer, which offers
- a well balanced combination of stiffness, processability and flex-life properties
- outstanding clarity and gloss
- excellent mould flow properties.

It is typically used for sheet production and forinjection molding of stiff, high clarity parts.

It's excellent melt strength and toughness make the grade also useful for thermoforming and deep draw applications.
Melt temperature : 200 - 230 °C

Processing conditions :
IOTEK 8020 can be processed on equip-ment normally used for LDPE.
Melt temperature : 200 - 230 °C

Warning:

To minimize corrosion risk, all exposed metal surfaces in the extruder and die should be made from corrosion resistant metals or nickel/chrome plated.

Iotek 8020 should be fed into the extruder after LDPE of a similar or higher melt index. Machines should always be completely purged with LDPE or a suitable cleaning compound before shutdown.

Cation containing polymers pick up moisture from the atmosphere if exposed for prolonged periods. It is therefore recommended to re-seal  tightly the package after each production run
