How do you explain Jagmohan’s place in the industry?
We have specialized in EBM, Extrusion Blow Moulding, are focused only in this field and see a good growth in future. We have not diverted to Injection Blow Moulding or any ancillaries and this is our USP too. We have solutions for everything in Blow Moulding.
With the first large capacity overhead water tank created by blow moulding process instead of the traditional roto moulding, you set a new trend or shift in technology.
Yes, that happened in 2008 and was definitely the first in Asia, and probably the world. We have ventured into different segments in the last 10 years, not only bottles, jerry cans and drums but diversified into different applications like furniture, hospital beds, toys, automobiles.
How big is the automobiles activity for Jagmohan?
We have sold more than 100 machines only in India to automobile majors like Maruti, Hyundai, Honda, Bajaj and other main players. Their vendors are our good customers. Our strongpoint is that we measure up to the stringent standards they adhere to. Our machines make even two-wheeler petrol tanks apart from many interior parts of automobiles. We have actually spearheaded the evolution from metals to plastics.
So EBM is much bigger than it is understood to be?
Extrusion Blow Moulding is not just limited to bottles and containers for edible oils, lubes, coconut oil, shampoos. We have diversified into areas like road barriers, gantries, trestles, traffic cones, etc all earlier made in roto moulding process. Even floats and a lot many other things.
How has the move from roto to blow moulding impacted your company?
We actually were the first to make the transition in 1985 and have not looked back since. Our next competitor is a far second.
How do you see Jagmohan’s scope for advancement?
We want to capitalize now. There is steady growth but we want to move ahead in fast forward mode actually. We are looking forward and ready for a joint venture, a tie-up, keeping in mind the ‘Make in India’ concept. People want to come and invest or start manufacturing in India. There is some activity of this sort happening in Ahmedabad already, with two or three Chinese companies setting up plants there.
What are your plans for the future?
Most products manufactured through roto moulding are now done through blow moulding. So there is much scope and growth is steady. There is a huge market in South America and we intend to tap into it. We are looking into the export market, exploring markets like Brazil, Mexico, parts of the US, particularly the automotive area. Like I have already said, there is a lot of scope and we can capitalize even now.
The plans are ambitious?
We wish to attain the 450 – 500 mark. Latin America, Russia, Europe mainly Spain Portugal and Holland. We have succeeded on the deflashing front too, so now we are ready to go as never before.
