Polypropylene (PP) prices firm up in FEA and SEA

This week, PP prices firmed in the Far East and South East Asian regions. Gains were attributed to strength in global crude and naphtha rates. The price rise was further supported by stronger import offers from overseas suppliers, firmer PP futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China coupled with improved regional buying sentiments.

CFR Far East Asia, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1090/mt levels, a sharp week on week increase of USD 25/mt. PP film prices meanwhile were assessed at the USD 1125/mt levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1125/mt levels, both up USD 30/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed at the USD 1135/mt levels, a rise of USD 15/mt from the previous week.

In South East Asia (SEA), PP raffia and PP injection grade prices were assessed higher at the USD 1140/mt levels, a week on week increase of USD 10/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1160/mt levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1160/mt levels,, both up USD 10/mt from the last week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1175/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 5/mt.
In Vietnam, Middle Eastern producers have sealed several deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1140/mt CFR levels, for shipment in April 2019.
In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed stable at the USD 1130/mt levels. BOPP prices were at the USD 1150/mt levels, while PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1150/mt levels, both unchanged from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1175/mt CFR levels, a week on week gain of USD 15/mt.

In India, a Middle Eastern producer has concluded deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1130/mt levels, for shipment in April 2019.

In Sri Lanka, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed stable at the USD 1150/mt CFR levels. PP film prices were assessed flat at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed stable at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels. PP block copolymer prices were at the USD 1180/mt CFR levels, unchanged from the previous week.

In Pakistan, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed stable at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels. PP film prices were at the USD 1200/mt CFR levels, while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1200/mt CFR levels, both unchanged from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed steady at the USD 1210/mt CFR levels.

In Bangladesh, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1160/mt CFR levels, a week on week gain of USD 10/mt.PP film prices were at the USD 1180/mt CFR levels, while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1180/mt CFR levels, both week on week increase of USD 10/mt. PP block copolymer prices were assessed up at the USD 1200/mt CFR levels, a gain of USD 10/mt from the last week.

Feedstock propylene prices on Tuesday were assessed at the USD 875/mt FOB Korea levels, a fall of USD 5/mt from the previous week. CFR China prices of propylene were steady at the USD 900/mt levels
