Polypropylene (PP) prices continue to quote lower in Asia

Polypropylene (PP) prices were assessed lower in Asia this week. Prices fell as demand trends in key markets like China were seen impacted due to the recent trade war between the US and China. The price fall was further supported by bearish PP futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China.

CFR Far East Asia prices of PP raffia and PP injection grade prices were assessed lower at the USD 1225/ levels, a week on week drop of USD 5/mt. PP film prices were at the USD 1250/mt levels, while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1250/mt levels, both down of USD 5/mt on the week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed lower at the USD 1265/mt levels, a week on week fall of USD 5/mt.

In South East Asia (SEA), PP raffia and PP injection grade prices were assessed down at the USD 1255/mt CFR levels, a drop of USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP film prices were at the USD 1280/mt levels, , while in BOPP prices were also at the USD 1280/mt, both down USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were lower at the USD 1295/mt CFR levels, a week on week drop of USD 10/mt.

In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed at the USD 1285/mt, both down USD 5/mt from the previous week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1310/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1310/mt CFR levels, a drop of USD 5/mt on the week. PP block copolymer prices were at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, a week on week decline of USD 5/mt.

In Pakistan, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed lower at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels, both down USD 5/mt from the previous week. PP film prices were at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, a drop of USD 5/mt. BOPP prices were at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, while PP block copolymer prices were at the USD 1340/mt CFR levels, both week on week fall of USD 5/mt .

In Sri Lanka, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed lower at the USD 1310/mt CFR levels, a week on week drop of USD 10/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, both down USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed lower at the USD 1360/mt CFR levels, a week on week fall of USD 10/mt.

In Bangladesh, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed lower at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels, both week on week down USD 5/mt. PP film prices were at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, both unchanged from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were also assessed stable at the USD 1360/mt CFR levels.

Feedstock propylene prices on Tuesday were assessed at the USD 1035/mt FOB Korea levels, a drop of USD 20/mt from the previous week. CFR China prices of propylene were at the USD 1055/mt CFR China levels, a week on week decline of USD 10/mt.
