Polypropylene (PP) prices drift lower in Europe

This week, PP prices declined in Europe.

An industry source in Europe informed a Polymerupdate team member, “The price drop was mainly in line with bearish demand trends and sufficient product availability in the region.”

The source added, “The market undertone was ambiguous as uncertainty prevailed on the quantum of inventories offloaded by sellers.”

PP injection moulding grade spot prices were assessed at the Euro 1240-1250/mt FD Northwest Europe levels, a week on week decrease of Euro (-25/mt) while PP block copolymer grade spot prices were assessed at the Euro 1340-1350/mt FD North West Europe mark, a drop of Euro (-25/mt) from the previous week.

In the contract markets, PP injection moulding grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1630-1635/mt FD Northwest Europe levels and Euro 1620-1625/mt FD Italy levels, a week on week fall of Euro (-10/mt). PP block copolymer grade prices were assessed at the Euro 1700-1705/mt FD Northwest Europe levels and Euro 1690-1695/mt FD Italy levels, both lower by Euro (-10/mt) from last week.

FCA Antwerp PP homopolymer prices were assessed at the Euro 1220-1280/mt levels, a week on week decline of Euro (-30/mt). FCA Antwerp PP copolymer prices were assessed at the Euro 1320-1350/mt levels, a sharp decrease of Euro (-30/mt) from last week.

Upstream propylene spot prices were assessed at the Euro 485-495/mt FD Northwest Europe levels, a marginal rise of Euro (+5/mt) from the previous week.

Propylene feedstock contract prices for the month of September 2022 settled at the Euro 1230/mt FD Northwest Europe mark. This price represents a plunge of Euro (-165/MT) from its August settlement levels.
