Polypropylene (PP) prices rise in Asia

Polypropylene (PP) prices gained in Asia. The price rise was supported by persistent strong import offers from overseas suppliers, improved buying trends and deals sealed at higher price levels in the region.

In South East Asia (SEA), PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1280/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 10/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1290/mt levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1290/mt levels, both up USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 10/mt .

In Vietnam, a Middle Eastern producer has sealed deals for its PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1280/mt CFR levels, for end-February/early-March 2018 shipment.

In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed up at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 20/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1320/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1320/mt CFR levels, both up USD 20/mt on the week. PP block copolymer prices were higher at the USD 1330/mt CFR levels, a week on week gain of USD 20/mt.
In India, Aramco, Saudi Arabia has concluded deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1300/mt levels, for shipment in end-February/early-March 2018.

In Sri Lanka, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed up at the USD 1280/mt CFR levels, a sharp week on week increase of USD 30/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1300/mt CFR levels, both up USD 30/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were higher at the USD 1320/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 30/mt.

In Pakistan, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1320/mt CFR levels, a rise of USD 10/mt on the week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1350/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were assessed also the USD 1350/mt CFR levels, both up USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were higher at the USD 1360/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 10/mt.

In Bangladesh, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed up at the USD 1290/mt CFR levels, a sharp week on week gain of USD 30/mt . PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1320/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed the USD 1320/mt CFR levels, both up USD 30/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were higher at the USD 1340/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 30/mt.

CFR Far East Asia prices of PP raffia and PP injection were assessed steady at the USD 1240/mt levels. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1250/mt levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1250/mt levels, both unchanged from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed stable at the USD 1270/mt levels.

Feedstock propylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at the USD 1070/mt FOB Korea levels while prices of propylene were at the USD 1140/mt CFR China levels, a week on week fall of USD 5/mt.
