BASF raises prices for engineering plastics and for styrene copolymer specialties

Petrochemical industry | 10 Oct 2005 IST | Polymerupdate.com
Monday, 10th October 2005.

Effective October 15th, 2005, BASF will increase its prices for all engineering plastics in Europe by up to 8 percent. This includes compounded Ultramid®/Capron® (PA), Ultradur® (PBT), Ultraform® (POM) and Ultrason® (PES/PSU).

At the same time prices for several styrene copolymer specialties will be increased worldwide by 200 Euro per metric ton each. This includes Luran® S (ASA), Terlux® (MABS) and Terluran® High Heat (ABS high heat grades).

This measure has become necessary because of the unprecedented increase in feedstock prices, energy and transportation costs. The extraordinary market conditions force BASF to implement price increases for these products in all regions.

Engineering plastics such as polyamide (PA), polyoxymethylene (POM), polyether sulfone and polysulfone (PES/PSU) as well as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) are employed throughout the technical world and in our daily life, in automotive construction, in the electric & electronics realm, in mechanical engineering as well as in households, in offices and in recreation.

The styrene copolymer specialties Luran® S, Terlux® and Terluran® High Heat provide solutions to problems in technically exacting applications in the automotive, electronics and communication technology, in construction an solar technology, in office, household, sport and leisure.
