Petrochemical industry | 29 Sep 2005 IST | Polymerupdate.com
September 29, 2005

BASF is raising its alkyl ethanolamine prices round the world with effect from October 1 unless existing contracts state otherwise. European prices will be adjusted as follows: dimethyl ethanolamine (DMEOA) and diethyl ethanolamine (DEEOA) up 0.04 €/kg; methyl diethanolamine (MDEOA) and monomethyl ethanolamine (MMEOA) up 0.06 €/kg. The price increases are in response to rising raw materials prices.

DMEOA~s primary application is as a precursor in flocculants used for waste water treatment. DEEOA is used as a corrosion inhibitor in water treatment. MDEOA is used in gas scrubbing to remove acidic elements such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). MDEOA and MMEOA are also used as precursors in the manufacture of fabric conditioners.

BASF manufactures alkyl ethanolamines at the company~s Ludwigshafen site.
