Polymerupdate.com, Asia’s #1 petrochemical market intelligence company, in collaboration with AMI, a London-based global organizer of plastics industry events, successfully hosted two premier exhibitions — Plastic Recycling World Expo India and Compounding World Expo India — under the unified banner of RACE (Recycling and Compounding Expo). With the theme focused on ‘Race to Recycle’, the event successfully saw 100+ leading industry players displaying their innovative technology, machines, sharing views, and exchanging ideas for mutual growth towards achieving greater milestone in plastic circular economy.

The two-day industry-focused event, held from September 10–11, 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Nesco, at Goregaon in Mumbai, brought together the plastics industry’s most influential voices. Exhibitors visitors spanning the plastics value chain, the Expo served as a powerful platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and business development.

Complementing the exhibitions were a series of high-impact seminars, where industry leaders and experts shared their perspectives on key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of plastics recycling, circular economy practices, and advanced compounding solutions. The sessions drew hundreds of participants, highlighting the growing interest in sustainable and innovative approaches to plastics. With its scale, diversity of participants, and engaging thought leadership, the two-day RACE Expo set the stage for India’s transition towards a circular economy in plastics, driving collaboration and innovation across the sector.

Bhushan Gagrani, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), said, “We plan to engage our internal team to collaborate with RACE in organizing a closed-door roundtable with the support of industry stakeholders and experts from the recycling sector. The objective of this initiative is to explore practical solutions for plastic waste recycling in the city. Platforms like RACE, which combine exhibitions and seminars, serve as excellent forums for all participants across the plastic value chain. The recycling industry stands to gain significantly from this initiative, and together with RACE, we are committed to addressing the city’s plastic waste challenges.”

On the first day, the event was inaugurated by Harsh Mariwala, Chairman and Managing Director, Marico Ltd., who was joined by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Avinash Dhakne, Member Secretary, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB); Arvind Mehta, Chairman, Governing Council, All India Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA); Manoj Shah, President, AIPMA; Andy Beevers, Director, Events and Magazines, AMI; and Prof. Dr. Sajjid Mitha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder, Polymerupdate.

The second day was even more inspiring, with approximately 2,000 additional visitors making their way to the Expo to exchange ideas for exponential business growth. Several industry experts shared insights on the current state of plastic recycling and compounding, machinery manufacturing, and the challenges that lie ahead for future growth. Participants remarked, “This was the best seminar we have ever attended. The knowledge gained by interacting with industry experts was exceptional and highly useful for driving business growth.”

Sanjay Pandey, Director–Marketing, Premium Polyalloys Ltd, an exhibitor, commented, “The second day of the Expo was even more engaging, with a higher number of visitors at our stall. Many attendees learned about our innovations in the plastic recycling industry. Although the Indian plastic recycling sector has come a long way from its nadir over a decade ago, we still have a long journey ahead. While the global average for plastic waste recycling is around 8 percent, industrial waste generated during manufacturing is processed at levels of up to 50 percent in northern India and as high as 80 percent in southern states.”

An executive at Lucro Plast-E-Cycle Pvt Ltd stated, “The RACE Expo helped us reach more customers and expand our client base, which will ultimately support long-term business growth. The organization of the Expo was exceptionally good, and we look forward to participating in future RACE Expos.”
