Asian ethylene surges amid energy spike and supply chain constraints

Last week, ethylene prices gained across the Asian region.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Ethylene prices are climbing as supply tightens while demand remains firm. Reduced operating rates at steam crackers across parts of Asia have constrained output, limiting spot availability and driving buyers toward the import market. This has intensified competition for cargoes, with buyers willing to pay premium prices to secure volumes. Additionally, elevated upstream costs, linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions, are providing further support to the upward price trend.”

CFR North East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1435–1445/mt levels, a week-on-week increase of USD (+15/mt).

CFR South East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1435-1445/mt levels, higher by USD (+15/mt) from the previous week.

FOB Korea ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1425–1435/mt levels, a week-on-week gain of USD (+5/mt).

FOB Japan prices were assessed at USD 1420-1430/mt, a rise of USD (+5/mt) from the previous week.
