Propylene prices ease across parts of Asia amid subdued downstream demand

15 Jun 2026 09:30 IST
Last week, propylene prices declined in several Asian markets, while remaining unchanged in Southeast Asia.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Asian propylene prices came under pressure as rising supply outpaced demand, leading to a more balanced-to-long market structure. Demand from downstream sectors remained subdued, with lower operating rates across several derivative industries, excluding polypropylene (PP), limiting feedstock consumption. Weak buying interest and cautious market sentiment further weighed on prices. Softer energy markets, following easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, also reduced upstream cost support and added to the downside pressure on propylene.”

FOB Korea propylene prices were assessed at USD 1075-1085/mt levels, down USD (-15/mt) from the previous week.

CFR China propylene prices were assessed at USD 1100-1110/mt levels, also week-on-week lower by USD (-15/mt).

CFR Taiwan propylene prices were assessed at USD 1105-1115/mt levels, a decrease of USD (-10/mt) from the previous week.

Meanwhile, CFR Southeast Asia propylene prices were assessed unchanged at USD 1165-1175/mt levels.
