Propylene prices surge across Asia on stronger upstream costs and tighter supply

Last week, propylene prices rose sharply across the Asian region.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Propylene prices strengthened during the week, supported by firmer upstream energy costs and tighter product availability following production outages and scheduled maintenance at several plants. Healthy producer sales allowed suppliers to maintain higher offers, while elevated crude oil prices continued to provide cost support. However, downstream buyers remained cautious as weaker product margins limited purchasing activity, preventing a more significant increase in prices.”

FOB Korea propylene prices were assessed at USD 985-995/mt levels, up USD (+60/mt) from the previous week.

CFR China propylene prices were assessed at USD 1025-1035/mt levels, registering a week-on-week increase of USD (+60/mt).

CFR Taiwan propylene prices were assessed at USD 1005-1015/mt levels, rising by USD (+70/mt) from the previous week.

CFR Southeast Asia propylene prices were assessed at USD 1035-1045/mt levels, recording a sharp week-on-week gain of USD (+140/mt).
