Propylene prices rise in parts of Asia on tighter supply and higher energy costs
Last week, propylene prices climbed some parts of the Asian region, while they remained steady in Southeast Asia.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Propylene prices increased in some parts of Asia, supported by firmer upstream energy values, stronger downstream demand, and tighter regional supply. Several PDH unit shutdowns in China reduced propylene availability and tightened regional supply, prompting sellers to raise their offers. Downstream buyers largely accepted the higher price levels despite rising raw material costs and continued pressure on margins across the value chain. Improved market sentiment and favourable supply-demand fundamentals further supported the upward movement in propylene prices.”
FOB Korea propylene prices were assessed at USD 1035-1045/mt levels, a gain of USD (+20/mt) from the previous week.
CFR China propylene prices were assessed at USD 1065-1075/mt levels, a week-on-week increase of USD (+20/mt).
CFR Taiwan propylene prices were assessed at USD 1035-1045/mt levels, posting a week-on-week hike of USD (+20/mt).
Meanwhile, CFR Southeast Asia propylene prices were assessed as stable at USD 1095-1105/mt levels.
