Polymerupdate.com, Asia’s number 1 petrochemical market intelligence company, in association with AMI, a London-based leading plastics industry event organiser, jointly organised two separate events — Plastic Recycling World Expo India and Compounding World Expo India — under the banner of RACE (Recycling and Compounding Expo).
The two-day industry-specific events are being held from September 10–11, 2025, at the Nesco Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai, hosting 618 industry leaders as exhibitors. The Expo welcomed over 2,000 visitors from across the plastics value chain. Running alongside the exhibitions were a series of seminars, where industry leaders shared their insights with hundreds of participants to foster overall industry growth.
The events were inaugurated by Harsh Mariwala, Chairman and Managing Director, Marico Ltd., who was joined by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Avinash Dhakne, Member Secretary, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB); Arvind Mehta, Chairman, Governing Council, All India Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA); Manoj Shah, President, AIPMA; Andy Beevers, Director, Events and Magazines, AMI; and Prof. Dr. Sajjid Mitha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder, Polymerupdate.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Sajjid Mitha said, “The plastics industry stands at a pivotal moment where innovation, sustainability, and collaboration must go hand in hand. With RACE, our vision is to create a platform that not only showcases cutting-edge technologies in recycling and compounding but also fosters meaningful dialogue among stakeholders. These two days are about exchanging ideas, building partnerships, and shaping a future where plastics contribute to both economic growth and environmental responsibility. Together, we can drive the transformation towards a more circular and sustainable plastics ecosystem.”
In his opening remarks, Harsh Mariwala, keynote speaker, commented, “The inauguration of RACE marks a milestone for the Indian plastics industry. By bringing together Plastic Recycling World Expo India and Compounding World Expo India under one banner, we are creating a powerful platform that unites innovation, technology, and sustainability. This event reflects our collective commitment to addressing global challenges while unlocking new opportunities for growth. It is heartening to see such strong participation from industry leaders, which reaffirms that collaboration is the key to shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for plastics.”
The event also featured the felicitation of Arvind Mehta, who was honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his exemplary contribution to the growth of the Indian plastics industry, backed by his wealth of knowledge and vast experience. Mr. Mehta shared the challenges he faced in bringing together all segments of the plastics value chain. His vision and guidance were widely applauded at the event. RACE, a name to reckon with, has become synonymous with recycling and compounding activities not only in India but also globally.
Sharing his experience at the show, D. Balaji, Executive Director, Kingfa, commented, “RACE is a rare combination of recycling and compounding, two areas that go hand in hand in the polymer industry. This first-of-its-kind event encouraged us to participate and showcase our innovative machinery designed specifically for the plastics value chain. We did face some technical issues initially, but the Polymerupdate team resolved them promptly. We truly appreciate their swift and professional response.”
Kingfa Science & Technology (India) Limited is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-quality reinforced polypropylene compounds, thermoplastic elastomers, fibre-reinforced composites, and engineering plastics. A global leader in modified plastics used in automotive and consumer products, the company diversified into personal protective equipment (PPE) at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over time, Kingfa has also expanded into plastics recycling.
Kenji Tomomitsu, Sales Manager, Plastic Machinery Sales Department, The Japan Steel Works Ltd. (JSW) — a leading Japanese manufacturer of recycling and compounding machines — remarked, “This was an opportunity for us to connect directly with our target audience and support overall business growth. We are pleased that Polymerupdate organised such a wonderful event. The sound infrastructure and prompt service worked very well for us, and we look forward to participating in Polymerupdate’s future events.”
A representative from Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. added, “We are satisfied with the services provided at the RACE event. This exhibition gave us the opportunity to meet many of our current and prospective customers to support business expansion. While we saw a large number of visitors at our stall on Wednesday morning, we are confident the numbers will increase as the show progresses. We are also preparing to commence domestic manufacturing of Polylactic Acid (PLA) in May 2026, which we currently import to serve our customers.”
Day 1 of the RACE Conference — comprising the Plastic Recycling World Expo India and the Compounding World Expo India — concluded on a successful note, with exhibiting companies expanding their customer networks, exchanging ideas, and exploring business opportunities for future growth. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the event’s organisation and outcomes.
