Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) prices soften across Asia amid subdued response to producer offers

27 May 2026 14:30 IST
This week, Polyvinyl chloride suspension grade prices in Asia came under pressure, with declines recorded across Far East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia amid weak buying interest and cautious sentiment among importers.

An industry source in Asia, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "PVC Suspension grade prices across Asia softened this week as buying activity remained subdued and revised offers from key producers failed to result in firm deals. A sharp pullback in upstream ethylene, VCM, and EDC values further weighed on sentiment. Regional divergence continued, reflecting varying buyer appetite across Far East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.”

In Far East Asia, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 780 to 880/mt CFR Far East Asia levels, easing, USD (-20/mt) week on week.

In Southeast Asia, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 800 to 850/mt CFR Southeast Asia levels, slipping, USD (-20/mt) from the previous week.

In India, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 830 to 900/mt CFR India levels, declining, USD (-30/mt) compared to the prior week. Buyers continued to exercise caution, ahead of the expiry of customs duty exemption on eligible petrochemical cargoes on June 30, 2026, limiting fresh import bookings and adding to the bearish momentum.

In Pakistan, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 850 to 920/mt CFR Pakistan levels, softening, USD (-20/-30/mt) from last week.

In Sri Lanka, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 820 to 900/mt CFR Sri Lanka levels, moving lower, USD (-40/-50/mt) week on week.

In Bangladesh, PVC Suspension grade prices were assessed at USD 890 to 980/mt CFR Bangladesh levels, edging lower, USD (-10/mt) from the previous week.

In terms of offers reported during the week, a major Taiwanese producer has revised its offer for PVC Suspension resin grade in China at USD 880/mt levels, while offering PVC in Southeast Asia at USD 910/mt levels. In India, a South Korean producer was heard to have offered PVC Suspension grade at USD 900/mt CFR levels. In Bangladesh, a Chinese producer offered PVC at USD 890/mt levels, while another Taiwanese producer offered PVC at USD 980/mt levels. No deals were heard to have concluded at the offered price levels, indicating subdued buying interest.

On the feedstock front, CFR Northeast Asia ethylene prices on Tuesday were assessed at USD 1015-1025/mt levels, registering a sharp fall of USD (-100/mt) from last week. VCM feedstock prices in Far East Asia were assessed at USD 675-685/mt CFR levels, declining USD (-70/mt) week on week. EDC prices in China were assessed at USD 320-330/mt CFR levels, down USD (-5/mt) from the previous week. The simultaneous easing across the ethylene, VCM and EDC complex has further dampened PVC sentiment in the region.
