Polypropylene (PP) prices decline in Europe

05 Jun 2026 14:00 IST
This week, polypropylene prices in Europe extended their downward trajectory, weighed down by weak demand and cautious buyer sentiment across the supply chain. Both spot and contract assessments registered softer levels, with limited transactional activity reflecting a broadly bearish tone heading into the new month.

An industry source in Europe, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Buyers across the supply chain have adopted a wait-and-see stance, holding off on purchases amid speculation of further price declines. Alongside weak demand, ongoing discussions around the availability of Chinese imports continued to weigh on pricing sentiment. Despite falling prices, spot business has remained thin, with buyers awaiting greater clarity as producers finalize their pricing for the month. Market participants noted that persistent caution, coupled with uncertainty over incoming volumes from Asia, has kept downstream converters reluctant to commit to fresh procurement. The combination of soft offtake and a wait-and-see approach has weighed on overall market momentum, resulting in limited spot deals during the assessment period.”
