Styrene Monomer (SM) prices quote higher in the U.S. amid tight supply and firmer benzene costs

06 Jul 2026 17:45 IST
Last week, SM spot prices increased in the United States.

An industry source in the U.S. informed a Polymerupdate team member, "SM spot prices in the U.S. moved higher as limited product availability and firmer benzene feedstock costs strengthened market sentiment. Tight regional supply supported higher offer levels, while gains in overseas styrene markets improved pricing direction and lifted replacement values. However, buying activity remained cautious as weak export demand and broader market uncertainty limited spot participation. Some producers were also evaluating operating rate adjustments to manage supply amid uneven demand conditions.”

SM prices were assessed at 46.40-46.50 cents/lb FOB U.S. Gulf levels, a rise of (+2.80 cents/lb) from the previous week.

Benzene feedstock prices were assessed at 373.00-373.10 cents/gallon FOB U.S. Gulf levels, a week-on-week gain of (+15.00 cents/gallon).

Meanwhile, in Asia, FOB Korea SM prices were assessed at USD 940-950/mt levels, a decrease of USD (-20/mt) from the previous week.

In Europe, FOB Rotterdam SM prices were assessed at USD 1155-1165/mt levels, a week-on-week spike of USD (+125/mt).
