This week, LLDPE film grade prices in Asia moved higher, with gains recorded across Far East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asian markets amid firmer offer levels and tighter import availability.
An industry source in Asia, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "LLDPE prices climbed as limited import availability, driven by persistent shipping delays and higher freight costs, may have supported firmer offer levels this week, while elevated ethylene costs could have added to the upward pressure. However, easing energy prices, weak macroeconomic sentiment, and subdued downstream demand appear to have kept buyers cautious, prompting converters to delay purchases while monitoring the near-term outlook. Stronger futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) may also have contributed to the price increase, while squeezed producer margins suggest that offer levels could remain firm in the coming sessions."
In Far East Asia, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 940 to 1050/mt CFR levels, moving higher, USD (+20/+50/mt) week on week.
In Southeast Asia, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 1030 to 1150/mt CFR levels, rising, USD (+40/+50/mt) compared to the prior week.
In India, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1280/mt CFR levels, steeply increased by USD (+70/+60/mt) from the previous week. The upward revision in domestic list prices by a key regional producer, along with firmer import offers, appears to have shaped the stronger price trend. Reliance Industries Limited has raised LLDPE prices by Rs.2/kg basic, with effect from August 1, 2026.
In Pakistan, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 1200 to 1240/mt CFR levels, a steep week-on-week rise of USD (+40/mt) .
In Sri Lanka, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 1190 to 1260/mt CFR levels, sharply higher by USD (+40/mt) from last week.
In Bangladesh, LLDPE Film grade prices were assessed at USD 1200 to 1250/mt CFR levels, increasing, USD (+30/+50/mt) compared to the previous week.
Overall, the Asian LLDPE film market witnessed broad-based gains this week, with tighter import supply, higher ethylene costs, and firmer producer offers supporting the upward price trend. However, subdued downstream demand and cautious buying sentiment could keep market participants watchful in the near term, while continued volatility may limit purchase confidence.
Ethylene feedstock prices firmed across Asian benchmarks this week. CFR Northeast Asia levels were assessed at USD 995 to 1005/mt levels, higher by USD (+20/mt) from the previous week. CFR Southeast Asia levels were assessed at USD 945 to 955/mt levels, rising USD (+30/mt) week on week. CFR India levels were assessed at USD 935 to 945/mt levels, holding steady from the prior assessment. The firmer ethylene cost structure across Northeast and Southeast Asia may have contributed to the higher polymer offer levels observed during the week.
