Styrene Monomer (SM) prices decline across Asia on weaker feedstock and energy costs
Last week, SM prices moved lower across the Asian region.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Styrene monomer (SM) prices moved lower, pressured by weaker upstream energy and benzene values, which reduced cost support. Subdued downstream demand and cautious buying further weighed on market sentiment.”
CFR Japan SM prices were assessed at USD 1075-1085/mt levels, while CFR China SM prices were assessed at USD 1075-1085/mt levels, with both benchmarks registering a week-on-week decline of USD (-25/mt).
CFR Taiwan SM prices were assessed at USD 1095-1105/mt levels, while CFR India SM prices were assessed at USD 1195-1205/mt levels, both lower by USD (-25/mt) from the previous week.
CFR Southeast Asia SM prices were assessed at USD 1115-1125/mt levels, posting a week-on-week drop of USD (-25/mt).
FOB Korea SM prices were assessed flat at USD 1090-1100/mt levels.
Meanwhile, FOB Korea benzene feedstock prices were assessed at USD 910-920/mt levels, down by USD (-20/mt) from the previous week.
