High density polyethylene (HDPE) prices in Asia diverge amid firmer costs and cautious buying

This week, HDPE prices in Asia turned mixed, with Far East Asia and Southeast Asia recording upward movement on the back of firmer producer offers and higher import replacement costs, while South Asian markets largely held steady as buyers remained cautious and awaited fresh import offers before committing to new purchases.

An industry source in Asia, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "HDPE prices in parts of Asia increased, supported by higher upstream costs, firmer producer offers and elevated freight costs, which raised import replacement costs and strengthened seller sentiment. However, HDPE prices in some Asian regions remained steady as buyers resisted higher offers and adopted a cautious approach, preferring to wait for fresh import offers and greater clarity on the overall direction of the Asian market."

In Far East Asia, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1040 to 1050/mt CFR levels, moving higher, USD (+50/mt) week on week, while HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1070 to 1100/mt CFR levels, rising, USD (+50/mt) compared to the prior week. HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1000 to 1050/mt CFR levels, while HDPE raffia prices were assessed at USD 1040 to 1080/mt CFR levels, gaining, USD (+50/mt) from the previous week. In China, a Middle Eastern producer has offered its HDPE film grade at USD 1070/mt levels, while a Saudi Arabian producer has announced its offer at USD 1100/mt levels.



In Southeast Asia, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1140 to 1230/mt CFR levels, firming, USD (+50/+30/mt) week on week, while HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1150 to 1230/mt CFR levels, moving higher, USD (+50/+30/mt) from the previous week. HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1130 to 1210/mt CFR levels, while HDPE raffia prices were assessed at USD 1140 to 1230/mt CFR levels, edging higher, USD (+50/+30/mt) compared to the prior week. In Vietnam, a Middle Eastern producer has offered its HDPE film grade at USD 1150/mt levels, while another overseas supplier has offered HDPE film grade at USD 1230/mt levels.



In India, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1210 to 1250/mt CFR levels, HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1260/mt CFR levels, HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1240/mt CFR levels, and HDPE yarn prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1250/mt CFR levels, all rolled over from the previous week. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has kept HDPE prices unchanged, with effect from August 13, 2026.



In Pakistan, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1210 to 1260/mt CFR levels, HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1200 to 1250/mt CFR levels, HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1200 to 1250/mt CFR levels, and HDPE yarn prices were assessed at USD 1210 to 1260/mt CFR levels, all holding steady from the previous week.

In Sri Lanka, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1250 to 1280/mt CFR levels, firming, USD (+10/+20/mt) week on week, while HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1240 to 1290/mt CFR levels, moving higher, USD (+20/mt) compared to the prior week. HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1240 to 1280/mt CFR levels, edging higher, USD (+10/+20/mt) from the previous week, while HDPE yarn prices were assessed at USD 1250 to 1290/mt CFR levels, gaining, USD (+10/+20/mt) over the week. An overseas supplier offered its HDPE film grade in the range of USD 1220 to 1270/mt.

In Bangladesh, HDPE blow moulding prices were assessed at USD 1210 to 1260/mt CFR levels, rising, USD (+20/mt) week on week, while HDPE film prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1270/mt CFR levels, moving higher, USD (+20/mt) from the previous week. HDPE injection prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1250/mt CFR levels, while HDPE yarn prices were assessed at USD 1220 to 1250/mt CFR levels, firming, USD (+20/mt) compared to the prior week. An overseas supplier offered its HDPE film grade in the range of USD 1220 to 1270/mt.

On the feedstock side, ethylene prices were assessed at USD 975 to 985/mt CFR Northeast Asia levels, easing, USD (-10/mt) from last week. Meanwhile, CFR Southeast Asia prices were assessed at USD 945 to 955/mt levels, unchanged from the previous week.
