Prime polymer prices were quoted above recycled grades in the India market on October 15, 2026. Price comparisons across polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) showed differences ranging from Rs 11/kg to Rs 55/kg. The comparisons were based on the available prime and recycled grade assessments, although differences in color, material specifications, and processing characteristics mean the grades are not necessarily direct substitutes.
In the polypropylene (PP) segment, prime PP Raffia was assessed at Rs 155/kg, compared with recycled PP Raffia natural chips at Rs 127/kg, reflecting a price difference of Rs 28/kg. Similarly, prime PP Injection was quoted at Rs 157/kg, while recycled PP Injection natural chips were assessed at Rs 132/kg, resulting in a difference of Rs 25/kg. Meanwhile, prime PP Film was priced at Rs 162/kg, with no corresponding recycled grade assessment available.
The comparison showed that recycled PP Raffia natural chips were priced approximately 18.1% below prime PP Raffia, while recycled PP Injection natural chips were around 15.9% below prime PP Injection. Both comparisons involved materials within the same broad processing categories, although their individual technical specifications may differ.

In the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) segment, prime HDPE Injection was assessed at Rs 135/kg, compared with recycled HDPE Injection blue chips at Rs 80/kg, representing a difference of Rs 55/kg. Prime HDPE Blow Moulding was quoted at Rs 139/kg, while recycled HDPE Blow Moulding natural chips were priced at Rs 128/kg, resulting in a narrower difference of Rs 11/kg. Prime HDPE Film was assessed at Rs 143/kg, with no corresponding recycled grade assessment available.
Recycled HDPE Injection blue chips were priced approximately 40.7% below prime HDPE Injection, while recycled HDPE Blow Moulding natural chips were around 7.9% below prime HDPE Blow Moulding. These comparisons relate to different recycled material grades, with blue injection chips and natural blow moulding chips having distinct color and processing characteristics. Consequently, the differences should be interpreted as indicative price spreads rather than equivalent-grade discounts.
Meanwhile, a local producer increased prices of recycled high-density polyethylene (r-HDPE) RBHD015 Black and RBHD015 White grades by Re 1/kg each, effective from October 15, 2026.
In the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) segment, prime PET was assessed at Rs 145/kg, while recycled PET chips identified as food grade, with an intrinsic viscosity (IV) of 0.71, were quoted at Rs 109/kg. This represented a difference of Rs 36/kg, with the recycled grade priced approximately 24.8% below the prime PET assessment. The comparison reflects the quoted material prices and does not establish identical product specifications or food-contact approval status.
Overall, HDPE Injection recorded the widest indicative price spread at Rs 55/kg, followed by PET at Rs 36/kg, PP Raffia at Rs 28/kg, and PP Injection at Rs 25/kg. HDPE Blow Moulding registered the narrowest difference at Rs 11/kg. These figures provide a comparison of the assessed prime and recycled polymer prices in the Indian market as of October 15, 2026, rather than indicating daily price movements.
