This week, HDPE prices in Europe moved in divergent directions, with spot assessments across major grades softening while contract levels on the continent registered gains, except in the United Kingdom where contract numbers held largely steady.
An industry source in Europe, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "European HDPE spot prices declined across blow moulding, film and injection grades amid sluggish buying activity, prompting sellers to lower their offers. Cautious purchasing and limited fresh demand continued to weigh on the spot market. In contrast, mainland European contract prices increased, particularly for film grades, as producers sought to recover rising costs. UK contract prices remained largely stable, although film grades recorded a slight decline. Higher ethylene costs provided some support to contract prices, while weak spot demand continued to exert downward pressure on the market."
