Propylene prices soar in Asia amid limited availability and rising cost pressures

02 Nov 2026 09:30 IST
Last week, propylene prices gained sharply across the Asian region.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Asian propylene prices recorded a sharp increase amid tightening spot availability and rising upstream cost pressures. Constrained supply strengthened producers' pricing power, while higher production costs prompted domestic polypropylene (PP) manufacturers to raise their selling prices, further supporting propylene values. However, the steep price escalation dampened downstream buying interest, with consumers increasingly reluctant to accept elevated offers and opting to delay fresh purchases. As a result, trading activity remained subdued despite continued bullish seller sentiment, creating a high-price, low-volume market environment.”

FOB Korea propylene prices were assessed at USD 1365-1375/mt levels, a week-on-week surge of USD (+70/mt).

CFR China propylene prices were assessed at USD 1415-1425/mt levels, a spike of USD (+70/mt) from the previous week.

CFR Taiwan propylene prices were assessed at USD 1295-1305/mt levels, a sharp week-on-week rise of USD (+90/mt).

CFR Southeast Asia propylene prices were assessed at USD 1345-1355/mt levels, a steep gain of USD (+70/mt) from the previous week.
