Polyopt Relaunches as a Key European Hub for Specialty BOPP Film Production

31 Jan 2026

The film manufacturing site formerly known as Treofan has been officially relaunched under its new name, Polyopt, marking a renewed chapter for one of Europe’s most established producers of specialty BOPP films. The relaunch follows AGP Holdco’s strategic investment and assumption of full operational control, enabling a comprehensive transformation program aimed at strengthening supply reliability and accelerating innovation across Europe’s specialty film markets.

With decades of industrial heritage, the Polyopt site based in Neunkirchen, Germany, remains a cornerstone of the European specialty films landscape. Under its new direction, the company is focused on revitalizing production assets, reinforcing its technical portfolio, and ensuring long-term competitiveness in high-value segments.

The transformation roadmap places particular emphasis on enhancing operational stability, revitalizing the capacitors film segment an increasingly critical component of Europe’s industrial supply chain and strengthening the site’s established expertise in flexible packaging. A renewed commitment to service, responsiveness, and collaboration aims to reinforce customer confidence and support the shift toward more specialized, higher-value applications.

“Polyopt represents a new beginning for this historic site,” said Dr. Detlef Schuhmann, CEO of Al Ghurair Petrochemicals. “We have strong confidence in the knowledge and commitment of the Polyopt team. This relaunch goes beyond upgrading equipment it is about re-establishing a culture of excellence and empowering people to shape the site’s next phase.”

As part of the Al Ghurair Group, which also owns Taghleef Industries, one of the leading producers of flexible films, Polyopt and Taghleef Industries will operate as sister companies.
