PT Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding with Halliburton on oilfield recovery cooperation. The signing was carried out by PT Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri and PT Halliburton Indonesia President Director Ankush Balla, and witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday.
This agreement is part of 11 investment memorandums of understanding signed by the Indonesian government and business actors at the Indonesia–US Business Summit held at the US Chamber of Commerce, Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday (18/2) local time.
This collaboration is a concrete step towards strengthening strategic collaboration between Indonesia and the United States, particularly in the energy sector.
At the US-Indonesia Exclusive Business Roundtable, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed strong optimism for the future of relations between Indonesia and the United States. The President emphasized that the Indonesian government's strategic agenda during his visit includes finalizing a major trade agreement between the two countries.
"I'm also here to finalize a major trade agreement between our two countries. We've been negotiating very intensively over the past few months, and I think we've reached solid agreements on many issues," said President Prabowo.
According to President Prabowo, this trade agreement is expected to be a key driver in strengthening the Indonesia-United States economic partnership. Several important agreements have been signed, both between government institutions and businesses in both countries, including follow-up on trade balance issues.
"I look forward to this trade agreement as a major boost to the continued economic partnership and cooperation between the United States and Indonesia," he said.
In line with this, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Simon Aloysius Mantiri emphasized that the collaboration with Halliburton is a strategic step to strengthen national energy security by optimizing domestic oil and gas production.
"Oilfield recovery is expected to help Pertamina maximize national oil production, particularly in domestic oil and gas fields that have experienced a natural decline in production," Simon said.
Simon added that this collaboration focuses not only on increasing production but also on technology transfer, enhancing human resource capabilities, and implementing globally standardized operating practices. He believes that synergy with internationally renowned partners will accelerate the implementation of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology and more efficient and sustainable drilling solutions.
"This collaboration is part of Pertamina's ongoing transformation to maintain sustainable upstream production, increase national lifting, and ensure energy availability for the community and industry. With the support of technology and global experience, we are optimistic that mature fields can once again make a significant contribution to national production," Simon emphasized.
Through this agreement, Pertamina affirms its commitment to supporting the Government's agenda to strengthen national energy security and sovereignty, while expanding international strategic partnerships that provide added value to the Indonesian economy.
As a leading company in the energy transition sector, Pertamina is committed to supporting the 2060 Net Zero Emission target and continues to promote programs that have a direct impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All of these efforts are in line with Pertamina's transformation, which is oriented towards governance, public services, business sustainability, and the environment, by implementing Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) principles across all Pertamina business lines and operations, in coordination.
