The 7th 'Our Neighborhood ESG Center' opens in Busanjin-gu. Establishing a virtuous recycling system for waste plastics in Busan
Creating jobs for seniors, resource recycling activities through waste plastic collection, and establishing a foundation for environmental education for children
Lotte Chemical announced on the 20th that it participated in the opening ceremony of the 7th "Our Neighborhood ESG Center" in Busanjin-gu on the 19th.
The newly opened Busanjin-gu ESG Center is the seventh to open as part of Lotte Chemical's resource circulation campaign "Project LOOP," following the establishment of the first ESG center in Geumjeong-gu in 2022, and centers in Dong-gu, Haeundae-gu, Yeongdo-gu, Jung-gu, and Gangseo-gu.
The center will create and operate jobs for a total of 200 senior citizens, including 170 plastic resource recycling team members who collect waste plastic and 30 environmental docents who are in charge of washing, decomposing, and compressing waste plastic and educating children about the environment.
Lotte Chemical will support the facilities, equipment, and training necessary for the operation of the center, while Elephant Factory, a resource circulation company, will provide technical consulting on recycling facility installation and operation, interior design, and environmental education.
Lotte Chemical announced, “Our neighborhood ESG Center is a public-private-corporate cooperation model that simultaneously realizes the social value of carbon neutrality and job creation for seniors by establishing a recycling system for waste plastics. We plan to expand and establish it throughout Busan.”
