As the homecoming rush and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday approaches, activity at the Cilacap Refinery continues unabated. Behind the glow of the refinery's torch, which signals the pulse of the national energy industry, workers ensure a steady supply of fuel to meet the needs of those traveling home.
This readiness is supported, in part, by the Block Mode operational innovation, which has been in place since May 2024. This innovation allows the Cilacap Refinery to process crude oil mixtures more flexibly and efficiently at Cilacap Refinery I, which previously relied solely on crude oil from the Middle East.
Cilacap Refinery Business & Optimization Manager, Endah Purbarani, explained that as the largest refinery in Indonesia, the Cilacap Refinery continues to make various breakthroughs to maximize the facilities that have been operating for decades.
"Block Mode is the result of collaboration between the Cilacap Refinery team and the full support of the Head Office. This innovation enables crude mix processing, increasing the yield of high-value products while strengthening refinery performance," Endah said on Monday (March 9, 2026).
Through Block Mode innovations and cocktail crude processing, the Cilacap Refinery is able to maintain production reliability while ensuring a secure energy supply during periods of increased consumption. Operations rely not only on processing crude oil from the Middle East but also on various types of crude oil with similar characteristics.
It is known that cocktail crude is the result of blending several oils to increase operational efficiency and flexibility.
Agustiawan, Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR at the Cilacap Refinery, stated that the Cilacap Refinery has the largest capacity, at 348,000 barrels per day, supplying 34% of the nation's fuel needs. The Cilacap Refinery is operating normally, with average fuel product stocks above the minimum target.
"The Cilacap refinery is operating optimally to meet the community's energy needs. We also urge the public not to be influenced by rumors or unverified information regarding fuel availability," he said.
His team continues to coordinate with various parties to ensure smooth refinery operations and energy distribution. "Through operational synergy and good communication with stakeholders, we strive to maintain refinery reliability so that people can travel safely and comfortably during their homecoming journeys," Agustiawan concluded.
For the people of Cilacap and the surrounding area, this refinery is not just an energy processing center, but also a part of daily life. It's where the energy is produced to power the vehicles that carry millions of travelers back to their hometowns, reuniting with their families on Eid al-Fitr.
