PRESS RELEASE

Minister of Industry honors Tasnee Acrylic Co-Polymer Project under the 1st Phase of the Innovative Factories Promotion Initiative

19 May 2026

H.E. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, honored the Acrylic Co-Polymer Project developed by Tasnee’s Technology & Innovation SBU under the first phase of the “Innovative Factories Promotion Initiative (Adoption of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Industrial Innovation)” launched by the Research, Development and Innovation Authority. The recognition ceremony was attended by Mr. Fawaz Al-Fawaz, Tasnee CEO, and Dr. Sulaiman Al-Khattaf, VP Technology & Innovation, following the project’s selection for financial support provided by the Ministry as one of the most promising industrial projects under the Initiative.

The Acrylic Co-Polymer Project aims to design and develop an enhanced co-polymer formulation based on acrylic acid and maleic anhydride, produce laboratory-scale samples using advanced polymerization techniques, and evaluate their functional performance in applications such as detergents and water treatment systems. The project also includes conducting a preliminary economic feasibility study to assess commercial production opportunities and expected returns, as well as developing a pilot-scale model with an estimated annual production capacity of 1,500 tons.

The project seeks to reduce dependency on imports by providing high-quality local alternatives, while supporting local manufacturing, localizing raw materials, and increasing national technical capabilities in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a competitive industrial economy driven by innovation and technology.

This achievement reflects Tasnee’s ongoing commitment to supporting industrial innovation, adopting advanced manufacturing technologies, and strengthening the Kingdom’s competitiveness in advanced polymers and specialty chemical products, contributing to sustainable industrial development and technology localization in Saudi Arabia.
