Pertamina's Pride Tanker Successfully Crosses the Strait of Hormuz, Demonstrating Its Commitment to Maintaining National Energy Supply

10 Jul 2026

PT Pertamina, through Pertamina International Shipping, confirmed that the Very Large Crude Carrier tanker Pertamina Pride has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely. This success demonstrates Pertamina's commitment to maintaining a sustainable crude oil supply amidst global geopolitical dynamics.

The Pertamina Pride ship began moving from the Arabian Gulf and successfully crossed the critical area and the Strait of Hormuz.

Previously, the Gamsunoro ship had also moved from the Arabian Gulf and passed through the Strait of Hormuz safely, since June 24, 2026.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, said that the successful sailing of Pertamina Pride was the result of the implementation of comprehensive risk management and intensive coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tehran, Iran, as well as all relevant stakeholders.

"Pertamina is grateful for the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran. Thanks to this collaboration, the Gamsunoro and Pertamina Pride vessels were able to exit the Arabian Gulf. This success demonstrates the strong coordination and cooperation of all stakeholders, as well as the ability to manage risks, ensuring a secure supply of crude oil for national refineries," Baron said.

Throughout the voyage, the ship was intensively monitored 24/7. The crew at sea continuously coordinated with the onshore team stationed at the PT Pertamina International Shipping crisis center to ensure all security procedures were optimally implemented.

"The safety of the crew is our top priority. Thank God, the entire Pertamina Pride crew is safe, and the ship can continue its voyage to Indonesia as planned," Baron added.

According to Baron, the VLCC Pertamina Pride, which is carrying around 2 million barrels of crude oil, is currently continuing its journey to the Cilacap Refinery and is expected to arrive in Indonesia.

"The crude oil supply transported by Pertamina Pride is crucial to national energy security. With the support of our fleet and integrated monitoring system, Pertamina is committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, and sustainable energy supply for the community," Baron concluded.
