For the second year in a row, SIBUR will offset the carbon footprint of the "Islands of Sustainable Development" international forum, which is taking place on Sakhalin Island on July 30 and 31. Verified carbon units generated by the climate project at the company's Zapsibneftekhim facility will be used to offset emissions associated with the event.
The forum traditionally brings together representatives of government, business, science, and the expert community to discuss key issues in climate policy, sustainable development, economic decarbonization, and scaling up best environmental practices. One of the central topics of the event will be the development of the Russian carbon credit market and the dissemination of the experience of the Sakhalin Climate Experiment.
Offsetting the event's carbon footprint is another practical example of using market-based climate mechanisms to achieve national sustainable development goals.

SIBUR consistently develops climate solutions and is a leader in the Russian carbon credit market.
