Blueocean selects BoReTech washing line for its bottle-to-bottle PET recycling Project in India

30 Sep 2026

Indian PET recycler Blueocean Ecotech Ltd., formerly known as Badri Cotsyn Ltd., has selected BoReTech’s ES Process PET bottle washing technology for a new bottle-to-bottle recycling project in Madhya Pradesh. The washing line, supplied by BoReTech, will have an input capacity of up to 6,500 kg/h and will support Blueocean’s expansion from recycled polyester fiber into food-grade rPET for bottle-to-bottle applications.

Following a comprehensive technical evaluation, and building on the long-standing relationship between the two companies, Blueocean selected BoReTech’s ES Process for the project. The partnership dates back to 2017, when BoReTech began supplying PET washing lines to Blueocean, supporting its bottle-to-fiber recycling operations. The latest project represents a further step in the partnership as Blueocean expands into bottle-to-bottle PET recycling.

BoReTech’s ES Process combines a modular process configuration with integrated washing and separation technologies designed to produce consistent-quality PET flakes for downstream recycling. The process includes intensive hot washing to remove adhesives, organic residues and other contaminants, while the Mega Aspirator, which has been gaining increasing attention among customers for its separation performance, efficiently separates labels and lightweight contaminants from PET flakes.

Blueocean has built a post-consumer PET collection and aggregation network covering 12 Indian states, supplying around 60,000 metric tons of PET per year to its plants and supporting more than 1,000 people across its collection network.

The project comes as India’s food-grade rPET market enters a period of capacity expansion. India’s mandatory recycled-content target for Category I plastic packaging increased to 40% for FY 2026–27 and is scheduled to rise to 50% in FY 2027–28 and 60% from FY 2028–29. The Association of PET Recyclers (APR) Bharat said in April 2026 that capacity from FSSAI-approved food-contact rPET plants was about 356,000 tonnes/year, and could reach about 750,000 tonnes/year by March 2027, as recyclers expand capacity in preparation for the future 60% requirement.

Against this backdrop, Blueocean’s new facility is expected to add to India’s bottle-to-bottle recycling capacity as the market develops toward higher recycled-content use in packaging. The project is also intended to strengthen recycling infrastructure in Central India, where Blueocean aims to further develop local collection, processing, jobs and technical capabilities.

The new ES Process washing line represents BoReTech’s latest contribution to Blueocean’s expansion, building on nearly a decade of cooperation between the two companies.
