The Magic Hands Foundation, PTT Oil and Retail Public Company Limited (OR), Westbuy Delivery Company Limited, and GC YOUTurn, a used plastic management platform by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), celebrated the second anniversary of the "Separate, Exchange, Exchange x Don't Mix" project. They also thanked all members of the public for their continuous participation in sorting and recycling used materials throughout the past year, and for their crucial role in driving the project into its second year. Building on this success, they welcomed a new partner, PRISM, PTT's petrochemical and refining co-utilization project, expanding the types of materials accepted to create new value from resources in line with the Circular Economy concept.
Highlights of the project's achievements.
- Over the past year, the public has contributed more than 170,000 kilograms of used materials through Recycle Stations at participating PTT stations. These materials will be recycled and given new value, reducing landfill waste and supporting the efficient use of resources in line with the circular economy concept.
- The program is expanding its acceptance of used materials from 8 to 10 categories , adding used cooking oil (UCO), which can be recycled into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and clean plastics such as packaging film, stretch film, and plastic bags. This aims to provide more comprehensive options for managing used materials and better meet the needs of the public.
- We welcome our new partner , PRISM, the Petrochemical and Refining Co-operation Project by PTT Public Company Limited, an expert in the storage of used cooking oil (UCO), to expand our cooperation in the circular economy for greater comprehensiveness and efficiency.
- The project will continue through Recycle Stations at 6 PTT Station branches across Bangkok, making it easier for the public to bring used materials into the recycling system conveniently located near their homes and on an ongoing basis.
Over the past year, the project has received cooperation from the public in bringing in more than 170,000 kilograms of used materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 400,000 kilograms of CO₂e per year, equivalent to planting more than 30,000 trees. The project covers eight types of recyclable materials, including: over 80,000 kilograms of paper, over 3,000 kilograms of black and white paper, over 3,000 kilograms of UHT cartons, over 90,000 kilograms of aluminum cans, over 1,000 kilograms of tin cans, over 20,000 kilograms of glass bottles, over 20,000 kilograms of clear PET plastic bottles, and over 1,000 kilograms of opaque HDPE plastic bottles. This reflects the power of collaboration from all sectors in reducing landfill waste, increasing resource recycling, and contributing to the creation of clean and sustainable cities.
This success is due to the collaboration of the government, the private sector, and most importantly, the public who consistently sort and donate used materials. The materials received through the project are then processed appropriately for recycling or adding value for reuse, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and promoting efficient resource utilization according to the circular economy principles.
Entering its second year, the "Separate, Exchange, Return x Don't Mix" project has expanded its acceptance of used materials to include two more categories: used cooking oil (UCO), which can be repurposed into high-value products such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) , and clean plastics such as wrapping film, stretch film, and plastic bags, which can be properly recycled. This expands the options for managing used materials, making them more comprehensive and relevant to people's lifestyles.
Simultaneously, the project welcomed the Petrochemical and Refining Co-operation Project (PRISM) as a new partner to enhance its capabilities in managing used and recycled materials. PRISM's expertise in efficient resource collection, sorting, and management will help expand the used materials management network and support the tangible advancement of the circular economy.
Following the success of its first year, the 'Separate, Exchange, Return x Don't Mix' project is moving forward into its second year with an expansion of accepted material types, strengthening of the partner network, and improved accessibility to Recycle Stations for the public. This aims to reduce landfill waste, increase resource recycling, and drive Thailand towards a sustainable circular economy and Net Zero goal.
The "Separate, Exchange, Trade x Don't Mix" project is available at Recycle Stations in all 6 PTT Station branches every Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. These branches are: 1.)
