The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), the voice of the chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf, has introduced a revised questionnaire for the Gulf Sustainability & Quality Assessment System (Gulf SQAS), reinforcing its commitment to continuous improvement and more efficient logistics performance assessments across the chemical value chain.
Established to provide a standardized framework for evaluating Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), Gulf SQAS assesses performance across key areas, including the Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality (EHSS&Q). By promoting consistency and reducing duplication in assessments, the system supports informed decision-making, strengthens operational standards and encourages continuous improvement across the chemical logistics sector.
The revised questionnaire builds on this foundation with a more streamlined and user-friendly approach, designed to improve the experience for both assessors and participating companies. The updated questionnaire is aligned with the new EU SQAS version and further tailored to the GCC logistics regulations and landscape. This updated version will help companies reduce duplicated auditing programs; offer a uniform approach to evaluating LSPs; and enable continuous improvement through a factual assessment report.
A transition period of three months will support assessors and participating companies in moving from the previous assessment to the revised system until January 2027.
The update reflects GPCA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the assessment process while maintaining Gulf SQAS’s core objective of supporting high standards of logistics performance and responsible operations.
Through the revised framework, GPCA continues to advance a consistent approach to logistics assessment, helping to strengthen performance, promote efficiency and support the development of a safer, more sustainable and reliable chemical logistics value chain across the region.
