PRESS RELEASE

HUDCO, NSG and Blue Planet Inaugurate Integrated Waste Management Facility at Manesar to Divert Up to 2,000 Tonnes of Waste from Landfills Annually

29 Oct 2026

The National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar has inaugurated an Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility designed to process approximately 5–7 tonnes of waste daily, recover recyclable materials, and convert organic waste into biogas for cooking. Supported by Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and implemented by Blue Planet Environmental Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., the facility brings waste collection, segregation, recycling, and organic waste treatment together across the 1,700-acre campus.

The facility is expected to divert up to 2,000 tonnes of waste from landfills annually. It includes a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for sorting recyclable materials and a 2-tonne-per-day EnergyBin biogas plant that uses anaerobic digestion to process segregated organic waste. The biogas generated is intended to replace a portion of the LPG used in a campus canteen, while the nutrient-rich slurry can be used for landscaping as manure, subject to operational suitability.

The facility was inaugurated by Shri Bhrigu Srinivasan, IPS, Director General, NSG, in the presence of Shri Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, HUDCO, and Mr Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions.

The system connects daily waste collection from residences, canteens and other establishments with dedicated processing infrastructure. Source segregation awareness, trained personnel and ongoing operations and maintenance are intended to support consistent waste handling and recovery across the campus.

Shri Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, HUDCO, said: “The value of CSR infrastructure lies in the service it delivers over its operating life. At NSG Manesar, our support brings together collection, recycling and organic waste treatment within a single campus system, with defined outcomes for landfill diversion and resource use. At NSG Manesar, our support brings together collection, recycling and organic waste treatment within a single campus system, with defined outcomes for landfill diversion and resource use. Such investments can help address everyday infrastructure needs while delivering sustained environmental value. The collaboration also offers useful lessons for other large institutional campuses seeking to strengthen their waste management systems.

Shri Bhrigu Srinivasan, IPS, Director General, NSG, said: “A campus of this scale needs discipline in how waste is segregated, collected, and managed every day. This facility gives us the infrastructure to carry that responsibility through to treatment and recovery. Converting canteen waste into cooking fuel makes the purpose visible to everyone who lives and works here. Our priority is to build consistent participation among personnel, residents and their families so that segregation at source becomes routine and the facility delivers its intended results.”

Mr Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions, said: “The real test of an integrated waste management project is whether every stage works together, from the waste handed over at a household or canteen to the material recovered or energy used. At NSG Manesar, we are connecting those stages through collection services, material recovery, and EnergyBin’s organic waste treatment technology. By bringing segregation, recycling, and organic waste processing together within the campus, the project demonstrates how institutional waste can be managed as a resource. The objective is to translate circularity into everyday operations, with outcomes that can be tracked and improved over time.”

The facility’s intended environmental benefits include reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, recovering materials for recycling and substituting a portion of the campus’s conventional cooking fuel with biogas. The project’s performance will depend on effective segregation at source, consistent operations and the actual quantity and composition of waste processed.

Blue Planet’s project scope covers engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning, together with waste collection, processing, operations and maintenance. Awareness and training programmes will support source segregation, while monitoring and reporting are intended to strengthen accountability across the waste management chain.

The project’s Bhumi Pujan earlier this year marked the beginning of the initiative, with the inauguration representing the next phase in establishing an integrated waste management system for the NSG campus. The collaboration between HUDCO, NSG and Blue Planet aims to support more efficient waste handling, resource recovery and responsible resource use through sustained operations.
