Ethylene prices continue to be steady in Asia
Despite bearish energy values, ethylene prices quoted flat in Asia on Wednesday.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Buying sentiments were reportedly muted in the Asian region.”
CFR South East Asia ethylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at the USD 895-905/mt levels, stable from Tuesday's assessed levels.
CFR North East Asia ethylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at the USD 885-895/mt levels, unchanged from Tuesday.
In plant news, Petronas Chemicals Olefins has undertaken an unplanned shutdown at the cracker. The exact reason and duration of the shutdown could not be ascertained. Located at Kerteh, Malaysia, the cracker has ethylene production capacity of 600,000 mt/year.
