Ethylene prices in Asia slump amid sluggish buying activity
Last week, ethylene prices experienced a sharp decline in the Asian region.
An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, “Ethylene prices in Asia trended sharply lower amid weak market conditions, with softer downstream demand keeping buying interest subdued. Despite higher energy costs, limited support from derivative markets weighed on sentiment. Adequate regional supply added further pressure, resulting in an overall price decline.”
CFR South East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1345-1355/mt levels, a week-on-week plunge of USD (-60/mt).
CFR North East Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1315–1325/mt levels, a sharp drop of USD (-60/mt) from the previous week.
FOB Korea ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1295–1305/mt levels while FOB Japan ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1290-1300/mt levels, both week-on-week lower by USD (-30/mt).
