PRESS RELEASE

UBE Taiwan Receives ISCC PLUS Certification

18 Jan 2024

UBE Corporation announced that its group company, UBE Taiwan Co., Ltd., has received ISCC PLUS certification, an international certification for sustainable products.

International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an international certification system designed to promote the establishment and validation of sustainable supply chains. ISCC PLUS focuses on globally available products made with circular and biomass raw materials.

With the acquisition of this certification, UBE Taiwan will now start selling three ISCC PLUS-certified products manufactured by UBE Group companies using circular and biomass raw materials, as determined by the mass-balance method*1.

The UBE Group addresses global environmental issues by striving to reduce GHG emissions and pursuing the development and practical application of environmentally friendly products and technologies. By providing more customers with environmentally friendly products, technologies, and solutions, the UBE Group will help to build a carbon neutral world, thereby achieving its vision for 2030, which declares its intent to be “a corporate group centered on specialty chemicals that contributes to the global environment, human health, and an enriched future society.”

*1 Mass balancing is a chain of custody option in which certified and non-certified materials are mixed physically, but kept separate on a bookkeeping basis. It allows the attribution of the circular and/or biomass raw material to the final products via verifiable bookkeeping and ensures the full traceability through the entire supply chain.

*2 Under trader certification, there are no limitations on the certified products, with all products recognized by ISCC PLUS eligible for handling.
