PRESS RELEASE

Circular polyamide 6 from Envalior cuts the carbon footprint of Vimar Linea switches by 80%

06 Apr 2026

Vimar has launched Linea, a new wiring device series that combines premium design with a significantly lower environmental impact. Using Envalior’s Durethan® Blue, made with approximately 90% circular raw materials, along with optimized production and packaging, the series reduces carbon footprint by over 80%, saving around 500 tons of CO₂ annually.

- The circular PA6 compound Durethan® used in the new wiring device series is 90% based on sustainable, ISCC Plus mass-balanced raw materials.

- The electrical and mechanical properties of the polyamide, as well as its high thermal stability, ensure a long service life.

- By utilizing Envalior’s sustainable Durethan® Blue, Vimar has reduced the carbon footprint of its Linea wiring series by more than 80% compared to fossil‑based materials, cutting annual CO₂ emissions by over 500 tons.

Vimar SpA, an Italian global company specializing in sustainable electrical wiring devices and smart home solutions, based in Marostica, Italy, has launched Linea, a new wiring devices series that lowers environmental impact while maintaining stylish design and state-of-the-art technology. The mounting frames for the switches are injection molded with Envalior's highly reinforced Durethan® Blue BKV60H2.0EF, a sustainable polyamide 6 that consists of around 90% circular raw materials. This compound, together with optimized production processes, improved product management, and the use of sustainably certified packaging materials, has been a key driver for Vimar in reducing the carbon footprint of the switch series by over 80% compared to previous fossil-based solutions. This translates into an annual reduction of 500 tons of CO₂ emissions.

"We are very pleased that Linea is making a major contribution to climate and resource protection. Sustainable construction materials such as Envalior’s circular Durethan® are an important element in our corporate strategy of aligning all our processes and products with the circular economy through the use of green energy, sustainable raw material management, and highly efficient technologies," explains Sandro Bernardi, Industrial Operations Director at Vimar.

Recycled fibers enhance sustainability
More than 97% of the Linea production consists of plastics from renewable and recycled sources that are mass-balanced and certified according to the ISCC Plus standard (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). The sustainable origin of the raw materials is certified according to ISCC Plus, as are Envalior's associated production facilities in Antwerp and Krefeld-Uerdingen.

The sustainable Durethan® BLUE is reinforced with 60% recycled fibers by weight, in the production of which a large proportion of the inorganic glass raw materials is substituted by industrial glass waste. In addition, cyclohexane, which is bio-based, recycled bio-based, and/or produced by chemical recycling, is used in the production of the starting material for the polyamide 6.

"As a result, our high-performance compound consists of around 90% sustainable raw materials, which is a peak value for a glass fiber-reinforced plastic," explains Fabio Passeri, Business Development Manager at Envalior.

Easy-flowing and low warpage enable slim, durable design
Despite its high glass fiber content, the high-performance compound is so easy-flowing that it reproduces the delicate, flat geometry of the mounting frames. In addition, the construction material is low-warp and exhibits high stiffness and strength.

"The frames can therefore be made very thin-walled, which contributes to the attractive slim design of the switches. The compound's excellent electrical properties, such as high-volume resistance and high dielectric strength, combined with its long-term thermal stability ensure a long product life cycle for the switches," says Passeri.
