European polypropylene (PP) prices rise as buying activity accelerates ahead of October hikes

25 Sep 2026 14:00 IST
This week, PP prices in Europe moved higher across spot and contract assessments, with copolymer and homopolymer grades gaining ground as sentiment shifted and buyers accepted firmer offers ahead of anticipated October increases.

An industry source in Europe, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "The European PP market strengthened during the week as buying activity recovered sharply following a slow start to the month. Low inventories encouraged converters and distributors to secure additional material ahead of anticipated October price increases, with some sellers temporarily suspending new orders or accepting bids only at higher levels. Although domestic supply remained adequate, fewer attractive import offers and uncertain delivery schedules reduced buyers’ alternatives, allowing suppliers to negotiate firmer prices. Rising input costs provided further support, while expectations of additional increases encouraged customers to bring forward purchases. Spot prices recorded stronger gains as demand for readily available material improved, while contract prices increased more moderately."
