Ethylene prices ease in Asia amid weak demand and rising availability

Last week, ethylene prices dropped in the Asian region.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Asian ethylene prices declined as weak downstream demand weighed on market sentiment. In the key Chinese market, buyers remained largely sidelined due to the Mid-Autumn Festival, limiting spot activity. Increased ethylene availability in some regions also indicated a gradual shift from an extremely tight supply phase toward a rebalancing market. Meanwhile, volatility in upstream markets kept buyers cautious and encouraged them to limit purchases to immediate requirements.”

CFR Northeast Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1185-1195/mt levels, lower by USD (-10/mt) from the previous week.

CFR Southeast Asia ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1135-1145/mt levels, a week-on-week decrease of USD (-10/mt).

FOB Korea ethylene prices were assessed at USD 1175-1185/mt levels, while FOB Japan prices were assessed at USD 1170-1180/mt levels, both week-on-week dropped by USD (-10/mt).
