Polypropylene (PP) prices witness mixed trends in Asia

14 Oct 2026 14:00 IST
This week, Polypropylene (PP) prices in Asia moved in mixed directions, with assessments in Far East Asia posting broad gains alongside firmer offers in parts of South Asia, while prices across Southeast Asia and most countries in the South Asian region held steady amid cautious buying and adequate availability.

An industry source in Asia, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, "Asian markets witnessed mixed trading conditions, with prices rising in some regions amid higher upstream costs and feedstock values driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These factors prompted producers to adopt firmer offers. Stronger futures on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange also lent support to prices. Meanwhile, prices in other Asian markets remained stable amid cautious downstream buying and subdued spot trading activity. Uncertainty surrounding US dollar-denominated import offers continued to weigh on market sentiment. In the near term, prices are likely to remain volatile, influenced by upstream cost movements, supply availability, and downstream demand."
