This week, PP prices in Europe moved on an upward trend, with spot assessments edging higher across most grades while contract assessments posted broad gains.
An industry source in Europe, on condition of anonymity, informed a Polymerupdate team member, “European PP spot prices edged higher as suppliers maintained firm pricing amid expectations of stronger upcoming contract settlements. Buying activity remained subdued, with most purchasers limiting procurement to immediate and regular requirements amid cautious market sentiment. The lack of significant buying interest prevented a stronger price increase, while sharply lower propylene costs offered some relief to buyers by easing upstream cost pressures. However, the decline in feedstock values did not translate into lower PP offers, as market participants continued to focus on the anticipated strengthening of contract prices. Overall, the market maintained a firm undertone, with expectations of higher contract settlements supporting spot values despite restrained demand and weaker feedstock costs.”
